St. Nicholas Academy is a faith-based, positive place of living and learning. Committed to providing a loving, safe, nurturing environment, St. Nicholas offers a home-like atmosphere where the children are encouraged to grow and reach their fullest potential.

Houseparents, who live in the home, provide stability, love, encouragement, and support to each child. They understand that establishing a positive and mutually respectful relationship with each child is the basis for being able to work effectively with him. It is in this relationship that they come to know, understand, appreciate, and value each child as a unique individual with particular strengths, challenges, and gifts.

The structure and daily living environment assist the children in gaining the skills necessary to be successful in school and in all aspects of life. Daily life in the home is a built-in opportunity to teach life skills, social skills, and to assist children in learning and growing in responsibility.

St. Nicholas is a partnership with the children’s families so the houseparents and families work together in a team effort to provide optimal experiences and opportunities for each child. Parents maintain regular contact with their children and the children go home on some weekends, for holidays, and breaks throughout the year.
